Earlier this year the Japanese car brand Lexus made a brief preview of their Hoverboard invention the concept is based on the popular Hollywood Sci-Fi movie series Back to the Future in the 1980's, the Hoverboard is used as a method of personal transportation employ in the movie by Marty McFly played by Michael J. Fox.

The eagerly awaited working Hoverboard is finally here and filmed in action in a specially designed skate park. The Hoverboard uses magnetic fields to carry its rider without touching the ground.

The Lexus Hoverboard is shaped and looked like a regular skateboard, but without its wheels, it uses magnetic fields to levitate and moved by the rider.  Lexus worked with scientists from research institute IFW Dresden and magnetic specialists Evico to develop the board, according to Lexus executive vice president Mark Templin
"Embarking on this project, we set out to push the boundaries of technology, design, and innovation to make the impossible possible," and "With this project, we call Slide, we collaborated with partners who share our passion for creating enjoyment out of motion."

The Hoverboard has a two Cryostats chamber designed to keep the "Superconducting" material at negative 197 degrees Celsius using liquid nitrogen.

Evico CEO Oliver de Haas said "The magnetic field from the track is effectively 'frozen' into the superconductors in, the board, maintaining the distance between the board and the track – essentially keeping the board hovering," and "This force is strong enough to allow the rider to stand and even jump on the board."

Cloud-like smoke is emitted by the liquid nitrogen through the sides of the board, adding a futuristic effect on the board.  The Hoverboard will work only on specialized skate park which is in Bubelles, Barcelona, Spain.

The video was produced and uploaded to YouTube by LexusVehicles as part of their "Amazing in Motion" campaign.
